Welcome to Colmers Sixth Form

‘Welcome to the Sixth Form section of our website. In Sixth Form we will encourage students to ‘Dare to Dream’. This means we want them to aim high, but recognise that very hard and extensive support will be required in realising that dream. In this section of the website you will be able to read our prospectus, see our headline results, look at the courses on offer, make an application and get in touch if you have any questions.

Our Sixth Form has grown over the last few years as increasing numbers of students take advantage of the outstanding teaching and pastoral care on offer. We are small enough to offer each student a truly personal experience and our results and university take-up are testament to our approach of having very high expectations of students, but supporting them through what can be a very challenging two or three years. We offer predominantly Level 3 courses at A-level and BTEC and these allow progression to a variety of pathways.

We look forward to receiving your application and meeting you at interview as you dare to dream.’

In addition to the subjects listed below, we are now able to offer

Partnership with Bromsgrove Bears

We are hugely excited to launch our Colmers Basketball Academy, in partnership with the Bromsgrove Bears, from September 2022. The Academy will form an integral part of our Sixth Form.

Students who join the Academy will have full access to all of the courses on offer in our Sixth Form and in addition, will train weekly with Bromsgrove Bears and will compete at National League level. Professional coaching and weekly games will be part of the Academy timetable, with Wednesday afternoons devoted to Basketball. In addition, Academy students will be able to choose from a range of coaching courses to develop their sporting expertise and will also all have the opportunity to gain a Sports Leadership Qualification. Students in the Academy can choose from a traditional academic route, studying 3 A’Level courses, or can opt to take a Level 3 BTEC Sport course. Those choosing the vocational sport BTEC can either take one A’level alongside the BTEC or can instead complete a range of coaching and sports leadership courses as part of their sixth form pathway. The Basketball Academy is a truly exciting opportunity for young people who want to continue with their studies while pursuing a love of basketball. Whether sport is something that will remain a lifelong interest or something that you wish to pursue as a career, the Academy pathway will offer life-changing opportunities. It is an ideal route through to sport-related university courses or into professional sporting activity. If you are interested in the Academy and would like further information, please contact Mr Wilcox, Head of Perform Faculty, mwilcox@colmers. school. You can also find out more about Bromsgrove Bears from their website, Bromsgrove Bears (bromsgrovebearsbasketball.co.uk)
