Parent Mail

Colmers is a cashless school. We use ParentMail for all payment transactions. ParentMail is an online payment service which allows you to pay for school items quickly and easily on your smartphone, tablet or computer. Cash and cheques will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances, and so we urge all parents and carers to use Parentmail as the preferred method of making payments.

We strongly encourage all parents to download the app to get the best advantage from ParentMail with notifications right to your phone whenever we send information out.

If you’re using the App, it means you can…

· Receive less paper

· Receive notifications instead of text messages (saving the school money)

· Receive instant notifications of newsletters and information

· Book appointments for Parent & Carer’s Evenings

· Pay for lunches as well as other paid items.

You can make a payment for any activity that is available in the following way:-

  • Login to ParentMail (or the app) on your device (there is a link on the school website).
  • You will be able to see “Payments” as an option in your parent feed.
  • In payments you will be able to view items “To Pay” or visit the “Shop”.
  • Once you have located the item you wish to purchase, click on it.
  • Add to Basket
  • Click Pay Now
  • To make payment go to the Checkout screen and select your payment method and enter your payment details.
  • Parental Consent for participation in the trip will be given via a tick box on ParentMail, there is no need to return a form to school.
  • Please ensure the school is up to date with any medical conditions your child may have.

ClassCharts

All of our students, parents and carers are required to download Class Charts. By the 11th of September 2020 we are hoping for a 100% uptake.

Students will have information of how to download Class Charts. Where possible this will be facilitated in form time.

Parents should have received their information by the 7th September 2020 via email or post. However, just to make sure we will be sending paper copies of the information to all parents via their children. You should receive this by the latest on Wednesday 9th September 2020.

Below is a brief overview of Class Charts followed by the user guides for parents and pupils.

If you have any issues regarding Class Charts please feel free to contact the school mbrookes@colmers.school or smorris@colmers.school

GCSEPOD

We are delighted to announce that Colmers School and Sixth Form College has invested in GCSEPod, the award-winning digital content and revision provider used by over 1,200 schools worldwide.

As a subscriber, your child now has access to GCSEPod’s library of over 6,000 ‘Pods,’ 3-5 minute videos designed to deliver knowledge in short bursts. GCSEPod makes learning and revision much more manageable: every Pod is mapped to an exam board, and contains all the right facts, quotes, keywords, dates and annotated diagrams that your child needs for GCSE success – all neatly organised into topics and exam playlists.

One of the best things about GCSEPod is that you can download any Pod to your child’s mobile device, and then they can watch them at any time, in any place: with or without internet. It’s like they’re carrying a whole set of text books in their pocket! Make sure you download the GCSEPod app from the App Store (Apple and Android are supported) to access this feature.

GCSEPod also has the ability to identify gaps in what your child knows, and automatically send playlists to help fill them. After completing any homework set on GCSEPod, your child will get a personalised “Boost Playlist” of Pods relevant to their identified areas of weakness. We strongly suggest you make sure your child reviews these playlists regularly as this will speed up their progress.

We recommend that you talk about GCSEPod with your son or daughter – make sure they’ve successfully activated their account and encourage them to make use of this amazing resource throughout their GCSEs. Once they’ve activated their account, they can browse the Pod library and create their own playlists – just as they would when they’re listening to music.
